Talent Acquisition

HRG has extensive experience in recruiting, evaluating and selection of management, salaried and non-exempt staff across a variety of disciplines and organizations. We work either on a retained search or contract (time and materials) basis, resulting in quality hires on a very cost-effective basis.

Compensation Systems / Plan Design

Having an effective compensation system that is externally competitive and internally fair is essential to attract, reward and retain an organizations' talent. With 40+ years' experience in designing and developing compensation systems, our expertise in providing tailored advice and plan design results in our clients having confidence in their system. Services range from helping clients develop a relevant compensation philosophy to performing market-pricing and developing base pay programs and administrative guidelines.

Organizational Effectiveness

HRG participates with management in developing customized solutions to problems and issues related to "people issues." Services include serving as a 'sounding board' and providing advice to management, facilitating development of "Organizational Values", providing leader and team member coaching, facilitating resolution of conflict and trust issues and conducting internal investigations.

Dan has more than 35 years of diverse business and HR experience, with particular strengths in the areas of talent acquisition, compensation, strategic planning, leadership and organizational effectiveness. For the past 15 years, Dan has provided HR consulting services to diverse organizations of all sizes and in multiple industries in both the for-profit, non-profit and cooperative sectors.

Before joining Human Resources Group ("HRG") in 2002, Dan was Director of Human Resources for Wolf Appliance Company, LLC, an affiliate company of Sub-Zero Freezer Company, Inc. and manufacturer of high-end refrigeration and cooking appliances in Madison, WI. Prior to Wolf, he was Director of Human Resources for Placon Corporation, a plastics packaging manufacturer also based in Madison, WI. Before Placon, Dan was with Pfizer Inc., the world's leading pharmaceutical company, working in leadership roles in six divisions over a period of 19 years.

Dan's HR experience is diverse. He has 12 years' experience at the senior management team level, having been a member of the senior leadership teams at his last Pfizer division and at Placon and Wolf Appliance. He has designed, implemented and managed compensation, recruitment, employee development, and performance management plans. He has had active involvement in the human resources activities associated with investigations, mergers, an acquisition, start-ups, and expansions and reductions of work forces. He has developed HR policies and procedures, worked on EEO compliance issues, performed outplacement consulting services and developed employee communication programs.

In addition to being a Principal of HRG, Dan taught or co-taught the 12-week SHRM certification course for PHR / SPHR certification of HR professionals for five years, helping them achieve exceptional pass rates, and co-taught the "Essentials of HR" course through the UW-Madison Small Business Development Center. He is a past member of the Herzing University Advisory Board, a past member of the Madison College Advisory Team for its Supervisory/Leadership Development program curriculum and for 10 years chaired the HR Council of Oakwood Village, a 1,000+ resident seniors' housing community.

Dan holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a M.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California.
